Pairing & Troubleshooting

Before You Start

  • Use the app provided by your insurance carrier to set up your sensors.
  • You'll need a smartphone (iOS or Android) with Bluetooth turned on.
  • Your home WiFi must have a 2.4GHz network. The sensors do not support 5GHz-only networks. If your router broadcasts a combined network, your sensor will connect to the 2.4GHz band automatically.
  • Have your policy number handy, and use a real phone number during activation — a verification code is sent by text.

Setting Up Your Sensor

  • Log in to your carrier's app and follow the in-app setup instructions to pair each sensor. Everything you need to pair your sensors — including when to activate each one — is walked through step by step in the app.
  • During pairing, keep your phone near the sensor with Bluetooth turned on. Once setup is complete, the sensor connects directly to your home WiFi — your phone no longer needs to be nearby.
  • Place sensors on the floor in areas where water leaks are most likely: under sinks, near the water heater, behind toilets, by the washing machine.

What to Expect After Setup

  • Sensors update automatically about once every hour. To send an instant update, press the button on the sensor once.

Common Issues

  • Sensor won't pair or connect to WiFi:
  • Confirm you're connecting to a 2.4GHz network, not 5GHz.
  • Double-check your WiFi password — a mistyped password is the most common cause.
  • If the app keeps failing after a corrected password, log out of the app, log back in, and try again.
  • Move the sensor closer to your router during setup.

Sensor paired but shows as not connected:

  • Allow up to an hour for data to begin reporting — the app updates once the sensor starts sending data.

Temperature reading not updating:

  1. Press the button on the sensor once to trigger a temperature update.
  2. If it doesn’t update, fully close and reopen the app.
  3. Still not updating? Reset and re-pair the sensor using the steps below.
  4. After re-pairing, allow up to an hour for the temperature to update.

Sensor showing offline:

  1. Replace the batteries with fresh ones.
  2. Wait a few minutes for the sensor to reconnect automatically.
  3. If it remains offline, reset and re-pair the sensor using the steps below.

Switched to a new WiFi network:

  • The sensor must be reset and re-paired using the steps below.

Resetting and re-pairing a sensor (needed for the situations above):

  1. Hold the button on the sensor for 15–30 seconds until the blue light flashes.
  2. In the app, go to Home → Add New Device → Climate Sensor.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete setup.

No alert during a leak test:

  • Make sure the metal contacts on the bottom of the sensor touch the water directly.
